I’m still going strong on the project (the Bluebird Floral by Elsa Williams with modifications).
I filled in the center of the peach flower with french knots. The other flowers are supposed to have dark green centers, but I’m still skeptical. I left them blank while I think it over.
I left the spots off the peach flower until I decide what to do about the first pink flower.
I’m working on choosing a color scheme for the leaves. As a test, I worked three leaves, each with a different set of three colors. I think I like the top one best. What about y’all?
Here is a closer view of the leaves so you can see the color and shading.
I love the blends of the leaves. Can’t wait to see it finished.
thank you!
I would say the left leave looks best. The other two look very blueish on my computerscreen.
The peach flower looks beautiful
Yes, they are blueish. But you know, I like blue!
This is just gorgeous, I’m so glad you went with the floss on these.
Me too! They’d have been fuzzy and matte if I worked them in wool.
I like all of the leaves and don’t see why that all have to be the same as long as you don’t use too many different combinations.
You know, I think I will use a couple of variations, but maybe not these exact three. I have some new ideas!
I agree with coralseas about using all the combinations, although I find the lower right leaf less pleasing than the others colorwise. The gradation in this one appears dark with few highlights to pick it up; it doesn’t seem as smooth or natural as the other two.
It is much darker overall. Perhaps a different set of three…
I love the two on the right. The one on the left is lovely too, but I think it goes a bit towards the cool colours to fit with the other two.
The flower looks beautiful!
thanks for the input!
I like the left (middle) leaf the best, color-wise. They are all beautiful, tho’.
🙂 Linda
glad you like it 🙂
I like the top leaf best, but I think the middle, more grey-ish leaf might be a better foil for the bright flowers..
My color “eye” thinks the leaf on the left would look best with the flower colors you’ve chosen. Really like the colors in the top leaf…
I don’t know if you’re familiar with Kathy, at The Unbroken Thread, you should visit her site. At present she is embroidering Talaferro’s design. She is a great embroiderer who recently went for embroidery training and certification at the Royal School of Needlework in the UK. The needleworkers from this school handmade Kate’s lace for her dress, she married Prince William, as you may recall.
